I miss that swing set we used to be on. Where the endless trails of footprints on the beach we treaded on playing in the water. Such amazing days. I even remember our first day together.
Sweet Innocence
But we both have moved on, because of mistakes. One compounded into another, and led into a vicious cycle like an underwater current. Where we just fought, and fought. No end in sight. From where the other was, and what the issue is.
Love’s a battlefield
Now I’m sitting here. Looking at the stars, my soul, and my heart. Knowing that we’re both ashes at this point. You can smile, but I can’t. Yet I know you hide behind a false smile just like you were trained to do from all your years.
Can’t mend it at this point
I’ll just sit here by the road. Searching for a sign to go on. Until then I’ll be sitting here, and walking on place to place. Forever a migrant soul. Wandering the plains looking for my heart.
Forever lost without purpose
We both knew in the back of our hearts it might end like this, but we kept going. Maybe this will blow over, and I’m overreacting. Then reality sits down, and I have to live with it. No more high clouds, and happy times. Just a cold fact, and it hurts.
In a prison with chains
I just hope you can go on. Just leave, and be happy. I can’t give you a home, or family. So please go, and don’t remember me.
Because I’m already gone
I am the last of cinders before the dark comes in. Where I watch the fire die inside me, and feel nothing but a cold, dark heart. Is this what I wanted all along?
Ashes to Ashes
